Already a familiar face around Culver City, The Young Storytellers Foundation joined The Front and Center Theatre Collaborative in 2011 and is currently working with all level of Culver City students. The Script-to-Stage program is currently at Linwood Howe, La Ballona, El Rincon and Farragut Elementary Schools. This nine week, standards –based program gives students an opportunity to work with a mentor from the entertainment industry as they create an original story and see it brought to life by professional actors. YSF is also facilitating Middle School Movie Makers, an after-school writing program targeting Script to Stage alumni at CCMS that culminates in the production of short films. Additionally, YSF is collaborating on the Guest Speaker Series at the AVPA and is providing teaching artists to lead master classes for the AVPA Theatre & Film students in such areas as stage combat, improvisation, and acting for directors. Additionally, 5 AVPA students will be chosen to receive a full scholarship to their Summer Short Film Program at the New York Film Academy.
The Script to Stage program works one on one with 10 students per semester per school (80 per year total). 20 students per year participate in Middle School Movie Makers and 50-100 students participate from the AVPA.
